Following on from the highly successful Breast Care Appeal, we are raising money to enable Frimley Park Hospital to carry out research into breast cancer. On behalf of the breast team I would like to announce a new charity ‘BRAS’.
Here we are at the launch event held at The Aviator in October 2019. I am very grateful for our patients, who’s courage is the teams main driver to look to the future in confidence. We have celebrated a successful fundraising campaign of three years and the amazing spirit of giving of our community.
Many have already helped; individuals, patients and their relatives, companies and retailers. Sally and Kim and their families from Fleet, were the main drivers of the hard work during the fundraising, when they rallied a whole community by painting ‘Fleet Pink’, for a whole week. And we are so lucky to have them back with us again on this appeal.
If you would like to help us by hosting a fundraising event, we would love to hear from you and help you in any way we can.

The Macmillan Team held another fundraising event at Pennyhill Park Hotel, where I got to sample some culinary delights created by head patisserie chef Sarah Frankland. You may have seen Sarah on this year’s Professional Bake Off. The team managed to raise £6,000 which will go towards funding the much-needed Macmillan Nurses.
For the 6th year running, I was pleased to be invited back to join the Tour de Frimley team as medical support. Here they are at the finish line after 500 grueling miles at the foot of the Pyrenees in Spain. This year’s challenge fundraised for the Frimley Health Charity Stroke Appeal to help support patients on their long road to recovery through a new build, investment in new technologies and equipment.
The Macmillan Team continue to fundraise so that our team of Macmillan nurses remain in post. These valuable nurses offer support to our breast cancer patients. Here I am with the Macmillan fundraising team at Windlesham Golf Club.
Thanks to Camberley’s newest WI group for inviting me to talk on Breast Awareness. Also, an exciting opportunity for me to showcase the plans for Frimley’s new Breast Unit!
The RHS Director General Sue Biggs kindly invited me to the grand opening of the recently refurbished welcome center at RHS Wisley. Here is Sue alongside Alan Titchmarsh who had the enviable task of cutting the ribbon.
I was honored to be invited to this year’s Surrey Heath Mayors Ball at the Royal Military Acadamy Sandhurst (RMAS), where I represented the Frimley Health Charity Breast Appeal; one of three chosen charities that the Mayor is supporting this year. Thank you for all you have and continue to fundraise. These much-needed funds will go to equipping our new Breast Unit with state-of-the-art equipment to help diagnose and treat breast cancer much sooner for our local population.
On 30th July 2018, we were visited by the Surrey Heath Mayor as the Frimley Health Charity Breast Care Appeal is one of his chosen charities this year. He was impressed to hear of our plans to develop a stand alone breast cancer unit to include a 3D mammography machine at Frimley Park Hospital right here in Surrey Heath. The clarity of images from this new machine will help the breast care team to diagnose cancer & other abnormalities at an earlier stage. The ground works for the new build are due to start imminently and I will update build progress as it happens.

I am pleased to announce that I will once again be joining the Tour de Frimley team in 2019 as a member of their support team (medical and logistics). For a change of scenery the team will be cycling to Spain and part of the Pyrenees mountain range all in aid of the Frimley Health Charity Stroke Appeal. The challenge is sponsored by the Parkside Suite, Frimley for whom I am Clinical Lead and supported by 4th Batallion Princess of Wales Royal regiment (4PWRR). The challenge will occur in the Summer of 2019 with more details to follow. To sponsor the team, please visit their Just Giving page.
I was the guest of honour at Wise & Co’s breast awareness event, held on 12th October to coincide with Wear it Pink month. The well-attended event at Brasserie Blanc in Castle Street was organised by the Farnham-based chartered accountants to help raise awareness of breast cancer across the local business community. Wise & Co has subsequently donated £500 to support the breast unit at Frimley Park Hospital where I work. Click here for the full Farnham Herald article, or here for the Wise & Co press release.
