NEW BREAST UNIT – IT’S OPEN !!! <\/a>\"\"<\/a> \"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

After 12 years of fundraising and a pandemic, Frimley Park Hospital finally opened it’s brand new dedicated Breast Unit. Patients are now seen in an empathic and relaxing environment in one-stop clincis and for results. There are dedicated breast nurse counselling and prosthesis fitting rooms as well as 3D mammography and state-of-the-art equipment.<\/p>\n

Our first patients were seen in 22nd April 2025 with a grand opening event on 5th June 2025 where staff and patients recieved guided tours, and refrshments kindly donated by our local communities. We look forward to seeing you in our new space.<\/p>\n

Donations to the breats unit can still be made and are greatly recieved, so that we can continue to improve breast care delivery to our public. https:\/\/www.frimleyhealthcharity.org\/donate\/\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Following on from the highly successful Breast Care Appeal, we continue to raise money to enable Frimley Park Hospital to carry out research into breast cancer. To date we have raised \u00a3100k which will help fund a Research Fellow.<\/p>\n

The helix on the \u2018s\u2019 is the DNA, is the true face and future of treatment for breast cancer which affects 1 in 8 women. We look forward to the day we can genetically influence the cancer cell by simply turning off its \u2018drivers\u2019.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, the team at Frimley Park Hospital wanted to join a very interesting study using minimal invasive surgery in patients who have chemotherapy first, but we could not due to need for more staff.<\/p>\n

Why raise more money?<\/h3>\n

Do we just watch and wait?
\nOr aspire and move forward?
\nSo we are raising funds to finance a research person to enable us to join future studies.<\/p>\n

BRAs \u2013 Support :<\/span><\/h3>\n

BRAs is also aiming to provide support not only to their Breast Care patients but also their partners who are often also in need of support. No one wants to be a patient in a Breast Cancer Unit but if you do find yourself a patient, we want the new unit to be a nice place to be treated in with great facilities all round. The Breast Care team are very dedicated, passionate and strive to provide the best possible care to the 400 patients they treat every year. They have some great vision in what they would like the new unit to be.<\/span><\/p>\n

Huge support was given to the appeal by the local community and by the end of September 2016 \u00a3830,000 had been raised.\u00a0 Since then more donations have been received and these extra funds are very welcome as more equipment will be needed once the dedicated breast unit has been built.<\/p>\n

A new state of the art 3D tomosynthesis mammography machine has been ordered. \u00a0This machine will be installed within the radiology department so patients can benefit immediately from the latest technology. \u00a0This will ensure that patients have the best chance of successful (and less invasive and debilitating) treatment. Whilst the Trust agreed to match fund every penny we raised up to \u00a3750,000 they will, in fact, be spending several million pounds providing the dedicated breast unit as it will be within a brand new building at Frimley. \u00a0Construction is due to start soon in 2020; watch this space for regular progress updates.<\/p>\n
