Welcome to my website which provides information and support for patients breast conditions, and need or are considering breast surgery.
As Clinical Lead for breast services across Frimley Health, I work as a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon, and for eight years was Clinical Lead for Private Patient Services at Frimley Park Hospital and Parkside Suite (both part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust) in Surrey where I provide both NHS and Private services. I see and operate on patients at Spire Clare Park Hospital. I am a Trustee of the Association of Breast Surgery and sit on the Executive Board; in this role I am helping to shape breast surgery services for the future within the United Kingdom. At Spire Clare Park I am Freedom to Speak Up (FTSU) Ambassador.
I would be more than happy to discuss any breast related problems in a relaxed setting, whether you have non-specific pain or lumpiness, nipple discharge, skin changes or if you have been recalled from a screening service. My areas of expertise and special interests are in breast cancer, breast reconstruction, benign and congenital breast surgery, family history assessment, cosmetic and revisional surgery and skin lesions. I bring a female perspective to the surgical management of both benign and malignant breast disease in both men and women. I empathise with the needs of women, and I seek to provide care in an efficient, open and approachable style.
I am flexible with appointment times to suit those with busy lifestyles, with clinics running from a variety of sites during days and evenings.
Professional profile
I joined Frimley Park Hospital and the Breast Practice team with a strong background in Oncoplastic and Reconstructive breast surgery, bringing previous experience from plastic surgery and a highly competitive National Fellowship in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery. These skills enable me to minimise the cosmetic impact of breast cancer surgery and reconstruction and to preserve breast aesthetics wherever possible.
My advanced surgical skills include: immediate and delayed breast reconstruction including the use of a biological dermal matrix (Braxon®, Surgimend®), Latissimus dorsi flaps, implant-based reconstruction. Fat transfer/lipofilling to restore post-surgical volume loss, cosmetic breast surgery, breast asymmetry, augmentation, breast reduction, therapeutic mammoplasty, and complex revisional procedures. Male breast overgrowth (gyneacomastia).
I have a strong interest in family history assessment and in risk-reducing surgery. This includes surveillance for those deemed to be at elevated risk, and surgery for those confirmed with a gene mutation.
My work with the Association of Breast Surgery (ABS) includes:
- Director of course development
- Education and training committee
- Clinical practice and standards committee
- Academic research committee
- Yearbook Editor
- Ordinary Trustee
I teach on Core, Intermediate, Advanced Breast Skills, Medicolegal and Advanced Implant Reconstruction courses at the ABS. I am an Honorary Lecturer and Course Tutor on the national MS Degree in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery. I enjoy teaching and am dedicated to training ‘state-of-the-art’ breast surgery skills. I have organised a number of regional and national study days in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery.
My research portfolio also includes being Principle Investigator and Collaborator on a number of National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) breast trials. My research into sentinel node biopsy and the ALMANAC Trial at Guildford was published and presented internationally.
I am keen to improve my services wherever possible. If you have been or are still a patient under my care, or carer/relative, I would be appreciate any reviews left at I Want Great Care.
