Today, 22nd October 2021 marks the annual National Breast Cancer Awareness Day. A huge thanks to Kim and Sally for their amazing efforts at Waitrose, Bagshot raising money for our BRAs Charity! To donate please visit our page on the Frimley Health Charity website.
Frimley Health said farewell to its General Surgery and Cancer Chief of Service who retired after a quarter of a century at Frimley Health. Many women have been treated for breast cancer by this esteemed and respected surgeon and many lives saved. Past and present colleagues gathered to say goodbye in fancy dress!
I was honoured to be invited by the 4th Princess Wales Royal Regiment (4PWRR) in Farnham, Surrey to present roses to the soldiers in commemoration of the battle of Minden 1759. This symbolises an extended partnership between Frimley Health and 4PWRR who have been supporting our breast cancer charity since 2013.
Julie Jordan has been my wonderful NHS and Private secretary since 2009 when I first joined Frimley Health as a new Consultant. We celebrated her retirement with a slap up meal at The Ivy Guildford with fellow secretaries and consultant David Gerrard. I will miss her very much, happy retirement Julie. Her successor is Debbie Cain who’s details are now on my contact page.
This July saw the return of the face to face courses hosted by the Association of Breast Surgery (ABS). It was wonderful to return to the classroom after 18 months of Covid-19 lockdowns and remote learning. Well done to the Said Business School, Oxford & PG Roy for successfully facilitating this course.
Following on from the highly successful Breast Care Appeal, we are raising money to enable Frimley Park Hospital to carry out research into breast cancer. On behalf of the breast team I would like to announce a new charity ‘BRAS’.
Here we are at the launch event held at The Aviator in October 2019. I am very grateful for our patients, who’s courage is the teams main driver to look to the future in confidence. We have celebrated a successful fundraising campaign of three years and the amazing spirit of giving of our community.
Many have already helped; individuals, patients and their relatives, companies and retailers. Sally and Kim and their families from Fleet, were the main drivers of the hard work during the fundraising, when they rallied a whole community by painting ‘Fleet Pink’, for a whole week. And we are so lucky to have them back with us again on this appeal.
If you would like to help us by hosting a fundraising event, we would love to hear from you and help you in any way we can.

The Macmillan Team held another fundraising event at Pennyhill Park Hotel, where I got to sample some culinary delights created by head patisserie chef Sarah Frankland. You may have seen Sarah on this year’s Professional Bake Off. The team managed to raise £6,000 which will go towards funding the much-needed Macmillan Nurses.
For the 6th year running, I was pleased to be invited back to join the Tour de Frimley team as medical support. Here they are at the finish line after 500 grueling miles at the foot of the Pyrenees in Spain. This year’s challenge fundraised for the Frimley Health Charity Stroke Appeal to help support patients on their long road to recovery through a new build, investment in new technologies and equipment.
