Tour de Frimley 2016

tdf17-groupFor the third year running I was lucky enough to be part of the Tour de Frimley support crew, looking after 16 brave cyclists who covered nearly 700 miles in Northern France for the Frimley Park Hospital Breast Care Appeal. We left Frimley on 27th August 2016 and returned on 4th September. To date the team have raised about £30,000 which is their most successful year to date. You can follow their full journey on their Facebook page. With Tour de Frimley and Ride 4 Frimley, cycling has achieved a staggering £100,000 in fundraising over the three years of the appeal. Thank you all very much for your efforts and commitment. Thank you also to the teams sponsors 3PWRR (The Tigers), Brooks and Partners, Brandtastic and GearedUp Cycles.

Farnham Herald Rotary Club Cyclathon fundraiser

2016-08 Rotary-Cyclathon-donations2The Rotary Club of Farnham has presented cheques for £6,000 each to the Frimley Park Hospital Breast Unit and Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice following its successful Cyclathon earlier this year at Farnham Maltings. The two charities were chosen by Rotary president Ian Sargeant as his twin charities of the year. A total exceeding £12,000 had been raised and, with some funds still awaited, each charity has been given £6,000 with the possibility of some more at a later date. The Frimley cheque was awarded to myself, during a special dinner at the Blacknest Golf and Country Club near Bentley. Thank you for all your fundraising efforts! Nina Warden, Tracy Taplin and Sharon Lloyd held a ‘Be Beautiful Party Night’, which was attended by 130 people. The evening was opened by myself and raised £3,664 for the appeal. The three organisers later visited the hospital to present a giant cheque. Nina, owner of Be Beautiful Hair and Beauty, said: “We all know someone who has been affected by this terrible illness and wanted to do our best to help”. The full Farnham Herald article can be read here.
